PAOK supports pioneering postgraduate program
Training, confidence in sports science, and prevention. A three-pronged approach which helps for a strategy to win championships, an approach from which PAOK and the PAOK Academy of course, do not deviate from.
In the framework of the Postgraduate Program (MSc) entitled «Training and the Prevention of Injuries in Football», which is organized by the Department of Science, Physical Education and Sports (TEFAA) based in Serres, SEFAA, and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), and in collaboration with PAOK FC, a three-day course took place on 10, 11 and 12 June 2022 in the Press Room at the Toumba Stadium, and at the facilities of Souroti.
The courses were taught by the professors of TEFAA Serres AUTh Ioannis Amoridis, Symeon Vlachopoulos, Ioannis Gisis and Eleftherios Kellis. PAOK Academy director Vangelis Pourliotopoulos, Under-19 coach Stelios Malezas, PAOK B coach Haris Komsis, as well as the former PAOK player and national team coach Michalis Iordanidis all took part from the side of PAOK.
The discussion and the lessons were about the scientific support of the modern football player, the problems of managing a football team, but also in general regarding the evolution of football. Also, practical applications of the use of new technologies were made on the pitch with the joint participation of the educators from TEFAA Serres and the coaching staff of PAOK FC.
The postgraduate program is the only program focusing on football in Greece and one of the few in the world. Its purpose is to provide a high level of university education in combination with the latest scientific developments, on the modern mode of operation of football. This program introduces for the first time the concept of injury prevention that plagues football as well as cooperation with a professional team, such as PAOK FC. It has been operating since 2019, while it is worth noting that a large part of its graduates already work at Super League and Super League 2 clubs, as well as at clubs abroad.
