The BOX MVP of the Season – «Platon Foropoulos» Award
It was a season that we will all remember for many different reasons. A season of transition to a new situation and the return of Razvan Lucescu, with PAOK battling in 59 games, and in the end a season which left a bittersweet taste. It’s now time to pick the top player. The player who will take home the covted “Platon Foropoulos” award.
From that first night in Dublin, until the final night of the season at the Greek Cup final at the OAKA, so many things happened, and so many things changed. Intense emotions, successes, failures, dramas, celebrations. PAOK may have ended the season without a trophy, but the team matured, especially at European level, and the club is preparing to move to the next level.
The protagonists were many. Old, new, and young. Paokfc.gr and the PAOK FC Official App are opening the polls, asking you to vote for the player who will receive the «Platon Foropoulos» award for the 2021-22 season. Who will be the winner?
The inaugural competition was held in the 2013-14 season and was won by Lino, who in the twilight of his career showed that age really is just a number. In the second, Ergus Kace, one of the few players who managed to stand out in a bad season, was the winner. The third was claimed by Giorgos Tzavellas, in what was perhaps the best season of his career to date. Then it was Panagiotis Glykos, who was one of the team’s leaders as the team returned to winning trophies with the Greek Cup success of the 2016-17 season.
And then Vieirinha returned. And so in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons the award ended up being his personal trophy as a recognition for his considerable contribution to PAOK’s absolute dominance during those two years. In 2019-20, Josip Misic was the man who took the award after producing a scintillating season, while last season it was Christos Tzolis who took home the prize.
