Douglas wins Fans’ Man of the Match award

Douglas Augusto came out on top in the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match award for the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final, second-leg match against Marseille.

17.04.2022

PAOK played exceptionally well against Marseille. They forced the French side to play a passive role in the game, created many opportunities, but sadly missed out on their goal and failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

One of the team’s big players on the night was Douglas Augusto. The Brazilian played in two different positions, starting out as a No.10, before playing further back, and he was excellent throughout.

He dominated in both defense and attack, gave countless battles which he won in total, put in endless running, and had so much passion, while he was also deprived of a goal by Mandada with an excellent shot shortly before the final whistle.

In the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match, the Brazileiro fought it out with Andre Vieirinha. The Leader was a joy to watch in yet another game, and he gave everything he had out on the pitch before being forced off due to injury.

Douglas was finally the player who received the award just by a few votes, while the podium was completed by Lefteris Lyratzis, who produced another mature performance.
