Another three-point haul for Under-19s [with pictures]

PAOK Under-19s left it late on Sunday in Souroti, but despite some verves they managed to defeat Ionikos 2-1 with a last-gasp goal in added time and move on to 37 points.

The matchwinner in the fourth minute of added time was Giannis Gitersos (born in 2005), who was playing his first game for the Under-19 team. The team now have five more matches to play in what is turning out to be an intriguing battle in the Super League. Their next match is against Lamia.

In this match, PAOK opened the scoring early in the third minute thanks to Garnetas’ shot, but the visitors equalized in the 29th minute. Although the home side then took firm control of the game, they found it difficult to create scoring chances. The solution finally came in the dying ambers of the game, when Gitersos surged forward and fired home a stunning strike in the right corner of the visiting ‘keeper’s goal.

PAOK lineup:

Monastirlis, Tasiouras, Deligiannis, Melenikiotis, Zilo, Kottas, Garnetas (65′ Spyrakos), Athanasiou (80′ Kitsakis), Bambouras, Darelas, Spyridopoulos (53′ Gitersos).
