Midtjylland may have started in ideal fashion after the winter break with the 1-0 win over PAOK at the Arena Herning, but domestically the Danes did not enjoy the same goof fortune.

Aalborg proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for Bo Henriksen’s team, who lost 2-0 in Jutland and were knocked off the top of the league standings.

Midtjylland dominated the game, had plenty of opportunities, but failed to score. Subsequently, they were punished for some lackluster defending. Goals from Granley in the 28th minute and Hoch in the 56th minute saw Aalborg claim all three points.

Henriksen has all of his players at his disposal for the game at the Toumba,  with the exception of Dalsgaard, who did not travel with the team as his wife recently gave birth to their child and so he was remained in Denmark.

The Danes trained at the Toumba on Wednesday (23.02), while earlier the team’s captain Sviatchenko and coach Henriksen spoke at the pre-match press conference.

The Midtjylland defender said he expected a difficult game, while he also said that the coach will determine the approach of the match. Sviatchenko added that he and his teammates will try to be aggressive and create problems for PAOK’s defenders.

For his part, the Danish coach said: «We are looking forward to this game, I think it will be a fantastic game in a stadium with a great atmosphere. It is a ground where we know that people create an amazing atmosphere. I expect it to be a great game. We have a clear picture for PAOK now. We must be calm, determined and cool in all parts of the match.»
