Ingason’s comeback
He went through a tough six months on the sidelines through injury. But he never gave up, worked hard to get back to full fitness again, and came back stronger. Ingi Ingason is the BOX MVP for January.
In December, he started to gradually get back in the rhythm of top-level professional football. He played two 90 minutes in the Greek Cup and one in the league, and he seemed ready to help the team. In January, Razvan Lucescu opted to make him a key player and he was vindicated, as the Double-headed Eagle’s central defender produced some excellent displays.
PAOK greatly improved their defensive play and one of the reasons for that success was Ingasson.
The Icelander did not miss a single minute of action in January. He helped the team keep a clean sheet in four games, while he found the net twice against Volos away and Panathinaikos at home.
There was a bit of a «derby» in deciding the winner, as the poll for the January BOX MVP saw Ingason involved in a close-run battle with Jasmin Kurtic. In the end it was the PAOK stopper that took the award after collecting 48.95% of the votes.
The Slovenian was well worth second place, as he was in unstoppable form with four goals and one assist, while the podium was completed by Chuba Akpom, who contributed a lot to the team with his endless energy.
