Another three points for PAOK B [with pictures]

PAOK B grinded out an important 2-1 win over Panserraikos in Serres on Wednesday at what is a traditionally tough away venue to pick up points – a result which moved the Double-headed Eagle on to 25 points from 16 games.

16.02.2022

The next test for the Double-headed Eagle is a home game with Triglia on 20.02, while three days later they travel to Volos for a previously postponed match against Olympiacos Volou.

PAOK initially took control of the match in Serres, enjoying a lot of good possession in the first quarter. And the visitors transformed their superiority into a goal in the 26th minute when Tsaousis sent over a delicious cross which Panagiotou met to head home and make it 1-0 to PAOK B. Panserraikos responded with sustained spells of pressure on the visitors’ goal, but goalkeeper Bourganis was there to stop the hosts whenever he was called upon.

The second half belonged to the hosts. They were more dynamic and active, and sought desperately for the equalizing goal. And it duly came in the 71st minute via a powerful effort from distance by Eppas. Panserraikos continued to be threatening, but each time PAOK B’s well-organized defense managed to hold them at bay.

In the end, it was the Double-headed Eagle who found a way to score again, and get the victory thanks to an impressively-organized attack in the 82nd minute. Salamouras played in Smyrlis with a clever through ball, and the latter finished clinically to win it for the visitors.

Team lineups:

PAOK B: Bourganis, Apostolopoulos, Panagiotou, Manolioudis, Kaloutsikidis, Ouendraogo, Tsaousis, Grosdis (46′ Salamouras), Meletidis (85′ Spyridis), Fasidis (46′ Gaitanidis), Panidis (61′ Smyris)
