PAOK Under-19 settle for a point [with pictures]

Despite winning “tougher” recent derby matches against Olympiacos and Panatinaikos, PAOK’s Under-19 side slipped up at home against Atromitos, dropping two points.

12.02.2022

The match at Souroti on Saturday (12.02) afternoon ended in a 1-1 draw, a result which means the Under-19s have now collected 34 points. The only sure thing is that we are headed for a very intriguing finale in the Super League.

Malezas, Papavassiliou and Mitta’s team tried to move the ball around, and they succeeded to a great extent, but the truth is that despite that they were not particularly threatening. The game was bereft of clear cut scoring chances, but it was a tense affair with plenty of physical battles going on all over the pitch right until the final whistle.

Atromitos went in front in the 62nd minute, but the Double-headed Eagle reacted immediately and equalized three minutes later through Babouras, who converted well after some nice play and an assist from Spirakos.

After that, the rest of the game did not offer much in the way of attacking spectacle. PAOK of course, did have a lot of the ball and tried to find a route to goal in order to get a winner, but they failed to do so.

PAOK lineup:

Angelidis, Georgiadis, Deligiannis, Melenikiotis, Zilo, Roumiantsev (56′ Darelas), Spyrakos, Tsikos, Babouras, Kalogiros (75′ Spyridopoulos), Kedikoglou (56′ Garnetas).
