Ingason wins Fans’ Man of the Match award

Ingi Ingason came out on top in the paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App Fans’ Man of the Match vote for the match against Olympiacos at the Toumba on Matchday 20 of the 2021-22 Super League Interwetten.

02.02.2022

It was a derby between two teams who had completely different objectives. On the one hand, PAOK dominated, played good football, created many opportunities and fought until the final whistle to try and get a victory, while on the other hand, Olympiacos came to Thessaloniki with the sole goal of not losing.

In the end, the game did not have a winner, but it had a team who profited most, and that was the visitors, who preserved their nine-point lead at the summit of the standings while the Double-headed Eagle were left ro rue a missed opportunity.

One of the major protagonists of the derby was without a doubt Ingi Ingasson. The Icelandic stopper was a dominant presence, offering both energy and composure, while he won every duel he was called upon to give. He could have also got on the scoresheet if it wasn’t for the impressive Vaclik’s save.

And in the Fans’ Man of the Match poll, The Iceman received 62.89% of the votes to win the individual prize.

In second place was Lefteris Lyratzis, who produced another impressive display with good work in both defense and attack, while the podium was completed by Chuba Akpom, who put in an excellent shift as the lone striker, contributing energy and determination as he fought countless battles with the opposing defenders.
