PAOK B held to draw but look full of promise

PAOK B were held to a 1-1 draw by an experienced Panserraikos side in what was a tough and entertaining Betsson Super League 2 clash at the Makedonikos Stadium.

It was a sunny afternoon of good football at the Makedonikos Stadium, with PAOK B putting in a satisfactory display offeroing much promise for the season ahead. The match was made all the more eventful with the particiaption of Ingi Ingasson from the first team, who, apart from scoring PAOK B’s goal, also showed that his return from injury is going well.

Although the hosts fell behind in the 27th minute, PAOK B showed patience, having plenty of possession and always trying to build their passing game to find a route to the opposition’s goal. Finally that approach paid off in the 51st minute when the equalizer came, and the hom side also then had several opportunities to win the three points albeit without success.

The visitors played their part in a closely-contested match, and took the lead in the 27th minute with a shot from Kanis. It took 15 minutes for the home side to produce a response through Gordeziani, who came close with a header.

The teams went in 0-1 at the half-time break, but the leveller soon came in the 51st minute with Ingason planting a powerful header home from Gaitanidis corner kick.

Before the final whistle signalled the end of the match, the Double-headed Eagle had three good opportunities to score, with Gaitanidis in the 57th minute, Spyridis in the 66th, and Gordeziani in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately the visitors held firm and the match ended with the honours even.

PAOK B’s next game is next weekend against Triglia at the Kaftanzogleio.
