Weekly update about the New Toumba
PAOK FC president Ivan Savvidis met with the New Toumba working group for the weekly review of the ongoing ativities related to the project.
All issues related to the ongoing project for the new stadium were discussed in detail, as well as the possible solutions for the team’s relocation during its construction:
Specifically:
- The decision was made to entrust a specialized law firm for the control of all necessary legal documents, including the draft Presidential Decree and the submission by them of the necessary actions that will legally represent PAOK for the construction of the new stadium.
- Respectively, the agreement with a specialized company of financial advisors for the formation of the correct financing mechanism of the project will also be completed.
- The responsibilities were assigned to the working group, in order to describe the exact requirements and the technical characteristics, in order to start the tender process for the company that will undertake the architectural and construction study of the stadium.
- Messrs. Moutsakis and Dimogiannis will participate this week in the international ESMMA conference in Italy on the development of stadiums.
- The progress of the works at the Makedonikos Stadium, where PAOK B matches will be played – as well as PAOK’s women’s team, was analyzed by the Councilor and Vice President Chrysostomos Gagatsis and the head of stadium facilities Mr. Giannis Dimogiannis.
- Mr. Gagatsis underlined that apart from the Kaftanzogleio, no other stadium in Thessaloniki meets the conditions and requirements, either for reasons of capacity or for reasons of security, to host PAOK’s European and domestic games. ALSO, the Makedonikos Stadium can not expand its existing capacity above 10,000, while it cannot also meet all of the safety standards and conditions for international games. This stadium will thus host PAOK B matches and the women’s team for the next 3 to 5 years.
- The order was given to examine all of the stadiums near Thessaloniki, including the AEL FC Arena, which could, with the necessary adjustments, host European matches. At the same time, an order was sent to the administration of the OAKA complex and the competent bodies to investigate the conditions of possible use of the Olympic Stadium for European matches.
- Finally, it was underlined that for any final decision regarding the new stadium, there will be representation by and agreement with AS PAOK.
