He came to PAOK as a relatively ‘older’ teenager, at the age of 16. An age that the PAOK Academy usually avoids investing in, preferring younger children, in order to educate them in our own way. In the case of Giannis Michailidis, however, an exception had to be made.

At that time he was playing as a defensive midfielder, but he quickly became the main central defender of the Under-17 team and since then he has never looked back. He won three championships with the Under-19 as one of the leaders of the team, and in 2019 he was promoted to the first team.

He made his debut in a game with OFI in the Greek Cup on January 15, 2020, and since then he has beenan important member of the Dougle-headed Eaagle squad, having already played in 49 games, and scoring two goals. He also won the Greek Cup in the 2020-21 season.

With an eye on the future, PAOK decided to tie Giannis Michailidis down with the club until June 2025.
