PAOK’s Under-19 team got back to winning ways on Sunday with a 2-1 away win over Apollon Smyrnis in Souroti.
The Double-headed Eagle are now on 16 points and they are already preparing for their next game with Panathinaikos in Athens.
The hosts went ahead with a penalty which they were awarded in the sixth minute. However, Stelios Malezas’ side found a way to respond quickly, finding an equalizer in the 30th minute. Varela … cut in from the wing and served up an assist for Garnetas, who took full advantage to score and make it 1-1.
The game was a strong, physical battle and largely balanced, however PAOK had the lion’s share of goal attempts (with at least four very good chances).
The goal that finally decided the outcome of the match came in the third minute of added time with Smyrlis the player on target after some good work and an assist by Rumyantsev.
PAOK lineup:
Monastirlis, Tsopouroglou, Aventisian, Manolioudis, Tsiakoumis, Tsikos, Babouras (68′ Spyrakos), Koutentakis, Varela (76′ Kedikoglou), Garnetas (60′ Rumyantsev), Smyrlis.
