International call-ups and fixtures

The national teams are preparing for the October international fixtures and paokfc.gr presents in detail which PAOK players have been selected to represent their countries and when they will be playing.

Greece are playing two very important away games against Georgia (09.10, 20:00) and Sweden (12.10, 21:45) which will go a long way to deciding who will prevail in the battle for qualification for the World Cup. John van ‘t Schip has once again included Alexandros Paschalakis, who is in excellent form since the start of the season.

Albania will also have Enea Mihaj with them for the games against Hungary away (09.10, 21:45) and Poland away (12.10, 21:45), with the Albanians keen to continue their promising qualifying campaign. There will also be a ‘black and white’ battle as Mihaj will come up against Swarovski, who was included in the Poland squad after his excellent performances in the September internationals.  In addition to the battle with the Albanians, the Poles will also host San Marino (09.10, 21:45).

Meanwhile, the Serbian national team face Luxembourg away (09.10, 21:45) and then will welcome Azerbaijan (12.10, 21:45), having Andrija Zivkovic in their squad. The Serb has put last month’s misadventures with Covid-19 bedhin him and is starting to rediscover his best form.

Jasmin Kurtic, who is one of the main cogs in the team, is also included in the Slovenian national team’s selection. In October, the Slovenians travel to Malta (08.10, 21:45) and then host Russia (11.08, 21:45) in World Cup qualifying.

There is also a return to the Romanian national team for Alexandrou Mitrita. His performances with PAOK have not gone unnoticed by head coach Mirel Radoi, who has included him in his squad for the away game against Germany (08.10, 21:45) and for the home game against Armenia (11.08, 21:45), again for World Cup qualifying.

Back to Greece and the Under-21 side will play two away games in European Championship qualifying. On 08.10 at 19:00 the Greeks travel to Belarus, and on 12.10 at 19:00 they will face Cyprus. Head coach George Simos has included five PAOK players in Giannis Michailidis, Haris Tsingaras, Lefteris Lyratzis, Mario Tsaousis and George Koutsias.

The Under-19 team are also preparing for the qualifying phase of the European Championship. Head coach Tassos Theos called-up six PAOK players to participate in the training sessions, which will take place on October 5, 6 and 7 at the Agios Kosmas facilities in Athens. The six players are: Giannis Konstantelias, Vassilis Kitsakis, Konstantinos Koulierakis, Titos Koutentakis, Nikos Spyrakos and Lefteris Tassiouras.
