Paschalakis wins Fans’ Man of the Match award

Alexandros Paschalakis came out on top in the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match award in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage opener against Lincoln at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.

19.09.2021

PAOK got the job done in Gibraltar. They went to the tiny peninsula nation and got the three points to kick-start their group stage campaign in ideal fashion. Lincoln tried to play their game, but in doing so allowed PAOK too much space and the visitors dominated. PAOK’s quality was too much for the home side and they left the famous rock with an important away win.

And although up front both Akpom and Mitrita found the net to claim the headlines, PAOK had another major protagonist at the other end of the field. And that man was Alexandros Paschalakis.

The Greece international goalkeeper did not come under much pressure, but when he did he was there when his team needed him, making some key interventions. The highlight was an impressive save at the end of the second half.

In the vote for the Fans’ Man of the Match contest, The Goldkeeper garnered 41.77% of the public vote to win the individual award.

In second place was Giannis Konstantelias . The young winger came off the bench in the second half and showed some flashes of his obvious talent. Finally, the podium was completed by Chuba Akpom, who was given a starting berth from Razvan Lucescu and vidicated his coach’s choice, scoring for the first time since his return to the club.
