Panagiotis Tzimas joins PAOK
PAOK FC announces the acquisition of Panagiotis Tzimas from Asteras TripolisThe young ace as signed a four-year contract with the Double-headed Eagle.
Panagiotis Tzimas was born on March 12, 2001 in Preveza. He joined the youth academy of the local team from the age of eight, and quickly distinguished himself with his talent.
At the age of 14 he impressed further with his performances at Aris Preveza and the talent scouts at Asteras Tripolis identified him and managed to bring him to Arcadia.
In Tripolis he excelled with both the Under-15s and Under-17s, but his competitive breathrough came in the 2018-19 season when he scored 20 goals and contributed 10 assists playing in the Under-20s team.
Tzimas’ form did not go unnoticed by the senior men’s team coach Savvas Pantelidis, who invited him to train with the main squad, also drafting him into the squad for the first and last games of the Super League.
The first was against PAOK at the Toumba, where he was an unused substitute, while the second was at the Theodoros Kolokotronis against Panionios, when he came off the bench in the final minutes to make his professional debut.
The following season he continued to be a key member of Asteras’ Under-19 team, while he also made five appearances in the Super League Play Offs/Play Outs.
In the 2020-21 season he was a regular squad member in the men’s first team, making 11 appearances in all competitions, while against OFI on 26.01, he scored the winning goal of the match, the first strike of his professional career.
Tzimas is an international with the Greece Under-19 side, having scored four goals in eight games, while he has also played at Under-18 and Under-17 level.
