PAOK Under-19’s defeat Aris and are crowned champions
The Double-headed Eagle’s Under-19 side beat Aris 1-0 away and mathematically secured their fourth league title in a row. Next Saturday Panathinaikos will visit Souroti to attempt to wrap up another unbeaten season.
The big game of Matchday 12 proved to be a real… derby encounter. Aris and PAOK battled it out with all their might at the Municipal Stadium of Pylaia, with the Double-headed Eagle celebrating at the final whistle.
The game was a closely-fought affair, but with few clear scoring chances. PAOK got themselves in front just before half-time through Gorteziani, who was the player who got on the end of a cross by Grosdis in the 39th minute to score with a great header.
Aris did their best to try to find an equalizer, but PAOK goalkeeper Balomenos was there each time he was needed by his defenders to preserve the visitors’ lead until the final whistle.
The final whistle was greeted with wild celebrations from the PAOK camp as the title party kicked off in earnest. The Under-19’s mathematically wrapped up yet another title, the fourth in a row. And now the only other matter to take care of is for the incredible youngsters to try to remain undefeated in the last match for yet another season.
