Krmencik’s cup-winning buzzer beater
Michael Krmencik’s last-gasp goal that decided the destination of the Greek Cup trophy has been voted the Regency Casino Best Goal of May.
It was all square in the cup final with the clock ticking down. It seemed that the two teams would need extra time for us to find a winner. Enter Michael Krmencik from the bench to change the balance of the game and write his name into PAOK folklore.
The Czech forward joined the action in the last 10 minutes. He may not have scored in his first two chances in what ewas a frantic final, but it proved to be third time lucky for the hard-wroking striker.
Andrija Zivkovic produced an incredible piece of skill to senc his team-mate clean through on goal with an outrageous back-heel through ball assist, and Krmencik deceived Jose Sa with a clinical, low finish to make it 2-1 and hand the cup to PAOK.
In the vote for May’s Regency Casino Best Goal, the Czech received a sweeping 71.73% of the vote to win the award.
In second place was A. Zivkovic for his goal against Aris, while the podium was completed by Krmencik’s goal against AEK at the OAKA.
