The BOX MVP of the Season – «Platon Foropoulos» Award
It was the first season in history to be completed without a single supporter setting foot inside the stadiums. By that definition, for a team like PAOK, then the challenge was going to be a difficult one. Also, however, a team like PAOK by defeault is used to facing difficulties. What’s more a club like PAOK may also actually thrive on such difficulties. And now that we have reached the end of the season, it’s time to keep our traditions. It’s now your moment. The time when you vote for your top player of the season. It’s up to you to decide who will be the next holder of the “Platon Foropoulos” award for the BOX MVP of the 2020-21 season.
In what seemed like an endless, season, PAOK came closer than ever to reaching the Champions League group stage, narrowly missed out on the knockout stage of the Europa League, and slipped behind early in the domestic title race championship. However, in the final stretch of tjhe campaign PAOK managed to recover and secure second place, while the team also got back to winning trophies with the conquest of the Greek Cup, prevailing over Olympiacos 2-1 at the OAKA.
There were many key protagonists. Some of them young and expected, as well as some of the usual suspects. The contributions seemed to change depending on the various parts of the season. But now it is time to choose the best of all of them. Paokfc.gr and the PAOK FC Official App are organizing the competition for the eighth consecutive season, the big vote for the BOX MVP of the 2020-21 season. Who will be the next holder of the «Platon Foropoulos» award?
The inaugural competition was held in the 2013-14 season and was won by Lino, who in the twilight of his career showed that age really is just a number. In the second, Ergus Kace, one of the few players who managed to stand out in a bad season, was the winner. The third was claimed by Giorgos Tzavellas, in what was perhaps the best season of his career to date. Then it was Panagiotis Glykos, who was one of the team’s leaders as the team returned to winning trophies with the Greek Cup success of the 2016-17 season.
And then Vieirinha returned. And so in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons the award ended up being his personal trophy as a recognition for his considerable contribution to PAOK’s absolute dominance during those two years. Last season, Josip Misic was the man who took the award after producing a scintillating season.
