Michailidis wins Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match award
Giannis Michailidis came out on top in the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match for the Super League Interwetten Play Offs clash against Aris.
PAOK prevailed against Aris at the Toumba Stadium and opened up a big lead in the battle for second place, and they need just one point from two games to secure it mathematically.
The Double-headed Eagle completely dominated proceedings on the night, did not allow their opponents to create much in the way of a goal threat throughout the game, and claimed the three points with two goals in the second half.
Giannis Michailidis was the leading performer for the hosts. The defender was handed a starting berth for the second time in the Play Offs and was excellent throughout. Infallible defensively, pivotal in the team’s build-up play, and always showed a calm and clear head.
In the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match, Michailidis collected 27.55% of the votes and won the individual award.
In second place was Enea Mihaj. The Albanian defender returned to competitive action for the first time after a long absence through injury and did so impressively, assisting A. Zivkovic for the second goal. The Serb was the player who completed the places on the podium, with another mature and impressive appearance.
