Recharging ahead of the next derby
The derby with AEK is in the past, next up is the derby against Olympiacos. The double-headed Eagle began the preparations on Monday (25.01) morning with a training session at their Nea Mesimvria HQ.
PAOK played well against ΑΕΚ, dominating the match for long spells, but failing to take the three points. And as the protagonists of the match have stated, it’s all about giving answers on the pitch in the next game, since there’s no time to dwell on it.
The January marathon of matches continues with a second meeting with Olympiacos within a month, this time at the Erythrolefki’s home ground.
The preparations began in earnest on Monday (25.01) morning with Covid-19 tests. After that the players who took part in the game against AEK followed a a recovery and recuperation training program in the gym and swimming pool, while the rest of the group executed a high-intensity workout on the training pitches which included running exercises, rondo, and drills in limited spaces with a heavy focus on passing and possession.
Jose Crespo, who took a heavy knock on his thigh in the derby against ΑΕΚ, received some physiotherapy treatment and his participation in the match at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium will be decided after tomorrow’s training.
Enea Mihaj continued his rehab treatment and training from knee surgery and remains unavailable.
On Tuesday (26.01), PAOK will train at 11:00 in Nea Mesimvria and will then depart for Athens from the Macedonia Airport.
