Warda wins Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match award

Amr Warda came out on top in the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match for the Super League Interwetten derby match against Olympiacos.

17.01.2021

The derby at the Toumba ended without a winner. PAOK did though produce a positive performance, playing some excellent football in the process, and limiting Olmyiacos in attack. The home side bossed the game, but unfortunately the visitors capitalized on what was their only significant scoring chance of the second half, and stole a point to keep the gap between the two times the same.

The major protagonist on the night for PAOK was Amr Warda. The Egyptian midfielder returned to the team for the fourth time and the evidence shows that this time things may be different. Warda produced a flawless display.

He was tactically excellent, holding on to the ball when needed, while we also created chances, threatened in attack, was full of running, while he was also important for the team defensively. And whenever he got the opportunity, he did not hesitate in showing a few technical tricks and skills which combined effectiveness with spectacle.

And in the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match, the Egyptian received 23,83% of the votes, enough to earn him the individual award.

This time the competition was tough. In second place was Omar El Kaddoui who was in fine form in midfield, while Ingi Ingason, who again found the back of the net in another derby match, was also exceptional at the back.
