A high-intensity training session

The match against Panathinaikos is approaching fast, and the tempo of training at Nea Mesimvria has risen accordingly as the squad step up their preparation for the derby at the Toumba – a match which marks the final game of the first half of the 2020-21 Super League Interwetten season.

17.12.2020

Thursday’s (17.12) session was the most dynamic of the week. All of the exercises and drills were executed at maximum intensity, with the beginning of the program including sprints, rondo and games played within limited spaces. After that, the players carried out some tactics drills at a fast pace, while in the finale there was a mini friendly.

Rodrigo Soares followed his individual program, while Fernando Varela felt some discomfort in his back and remained in the gym. The defender’s status will be evaluated on a daily basis by the medical team.

Leo Jaba returned to Brazil where he will undergo a series of examinations to evaluate the conditions of his leg following the serious injury he suffered last season. In consultation with the PAOK medical team, the Brazilian will travel to his homeland to follow a special, muscle-strengthening rehabilitation program under the guidance of Joaquim Brava.

Finally, Diego Biseswar has been granted special leave to travel to Holland for personal reasons, and he will return to Thessaloniki after the mini-break for the Christmas period.

On Friday (18.12), PAOK will train again 11:30 in Nea Mesimvria.
