Paschalakis wins Fans’ Man of the Match award
When you manage to keep a clean sheet in a match that is by definition a difficult and demanding game, then you’re doing something right as a team. And so, while we spend a lot of time praising the forwards who put the ball in the back of the net, sometimes the spotlight belongs to the goalkeeper – for the right reasons.
And it’s with this logic that Alexandros Paschalakis was voted as the Fans’ Man of the Match in the match against Granada, a game which saw PAOK’s European adventures this season come to a conclusion. The match on paper was seemingly indifferent, but the two teams both wanted a win for different reasons. In the end, after a tough 90 minutes, the Double-headed Eagle and Granada shared the spoils of an entertaining goalless draw.
One of the reasons that the match ended in a 0-0 draw was Paschalakis. In his third appearance of the season, the Goldkeeper protected his goal and left the field with his third clean sheet. And in the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match, the PAOK goalkeeper received 43,05% of the votes to claim the individual award.
In second place was Ingi Ingason, who was exceptional at the back for the home side, while he also helped the team’s attacking options.
