Tziolis wins Fans’ Man of the Match award

It’s usually common practice for young players to be gradually integrated into the first team. First comes promotion to the senior squad. Then taking part in training, followed by a few appearances from the bench. But there are always exceptions. Those cases when your hand is forced. Christos Tzolis is such a case.

Outside of Greece, it’s not uncommon for an 18-year-old to be a major protagonist in his team. We may not see it very often, but – as Pablo Garcia often says – football has no age. Thus, Christos Tzolis continues to live his dream at PAOK, and apart from being a hot prospect for the future, he is also an important part of the team today.

A player with quality and audacity, but also a seriousness that from day one has demonstrated that he will be a player that we will talk about for many years to come. A typical example of the influence that PAOK’s Golden Boy can have in a game came against Asteras Tripolis. Tzolis was everywhere and did everything.

PAOK was struggling to create changes with a player less, but Tziolis provided the solution with an incredible effort. He got hold of the ball, skipped past his marker, and scored with a superb finish from outside the penalty area to make it 1-0.

He then make all the running for the second goal, going up against both central defenders and drawing a foul to earn his team a penalty. Andrija Zivkovic stepped up to score from the spot and seal the three points.

And in the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match, Tzolis collected 60% of the votes to win the award, with A. Zivkovic in second. The Serbian produced another impressive performance, proving a constant danger to the opposition, while also hitting the crossbar and winning possession no fewer than nine (!) times.
