Andrija Zivkovic wins Fans Man of the Match award
His name may not have been on the scoresheet this time, but Andrija Zivkovic’s display against PSV Eindhoven earned him the Fans’ Man of the Match prize via the vote on paokfc.gr and the PAOK FC Official App.
Rumour has it that PSV defender Noni Madueke is still looking for Zivkovic (for the chance created for the second goal). PSV’s captain Dumfries, who everybody expected to change the game for the Dutch side down the flank, is likely to remember him for a long time, as he struggled to contain the Serbian all night. The only method that proved effective for him was committing fouls.
He started on the right and for long spells in the first half he tormented Max. That was up until coach Pablo Garcia switched him to the left flank to… put pressure on Dumfries who in the end could not get forward, and so helping out his teammate Jose Crespo. The Dutch international could not only get forward, but he had a difficult night trying to defend against Zivkovic.
That apttern continued for virtually the whole match, meaning that the impressive Zivkovic seemed to be everywhere.
This played a key role in the poll for the Fans’ Man of the Match. The Serbian attacking midfielder received 42,98% of the votes and won yet another individual award, while in second place was Christos Tziolis who scored a brilliant goal and also served up an assist. The podium was completed by Fernando Varela, who scored a goal on his birthday as well as producing a solid display at the back.
