Mr Vertical in action
After his defence-splitting pass against OFI Crete in Heraklion, it was only right and proper that Josip Misic should get the nickname Mr Vertical. And it seems that you, the supporters, liked that superb, “vertical” pass to Dimitris Limnios as much as we did. The evidence? It was voted as the nak Play of the Month for November.
The Croatian midfielder certainly has a penchant for «vertical» football – it’s something he proves week in, and week out every time he lifts his head to try and pick out a teammate. Against OFI, Limnios was the beneficiary as Misic looked up to see the Greek winger’s intelligent run before pinging an inch-perfect pass into his path. Limnios had a clear run on goal but OFI goalkeeper Sotiriou managed to spoil The Future’s day and saved brilliantly to deny him what would have been a truly wonderful goal.
As a result, Mr Vertical received 76.16% of the votes in the poll ran via paokfc.gr to earn November’s nak Play of the Month. Jose Crespo came in second place for his effort in winning a penalty in the derby against Panathinaikos and Limnios was third for his assist to Misic for the match-winning goal.
