After 11 minutes Panidis missed a one-on-one chance, then in the 15th minute Doumtsis was denied by the post. Finally, after 35 minutes PAOK got the breakthrough when Tziolis converted Doumtsis’ assist’.

In the second half, PAOK produced a mature and patient display. The hosts allowed Panathinaikos space to play their possession game but always looked dangerous on the counter-attack. And after 53 minutes Michailidis hit the woodwork with a header. Panathinaikos responded with a long spell of possession and tried to find an equalizer, but the excellent Talichmanidis kept them at bay. And then Tziolis doubled the advantage eight minutes from full-time to seal a superb victory.
