PAOK prevailed 4-0 over Sint-Truidense VV in the first friendly encounter of their preseason’s second stage. An important result, considering that the Belgian outfit are readier and their season about to start officially.

20.07.2019

In Sint-Truidense’s last rehearsal before their official engagements, PAOK were excellent throughout the encounter. They didn’t leave their rivals any room to breathe, conjured up fine combinations, were disciplined in their defensive duties and recorded a comfortable 4-0 victory.

PAOK started strongly, taking the reins of the encounter and pressuring the Belgian side relentlessly, without getting bothered by the rain. Their pressure bore fruit in the 12th minute. Diego Biseswar connected Léo Jabá’s cross with a header to give PAOK the lead. Eight minutes later, Douglas Augusto beat the rival goalkeeper with a beautiful drive from outside the box.

Apart from the two goals, the first half saw PAOK miss more chances to score and display passion and intensity.

The “Double-Headed Eagle” didn’t take their foot off the throttle after the interval. In the 48th minute, Dimitris Pelkas served a perfect assist to Jabá who finished with aplomb.

At the stroke of the hour, Abel Ferreira made eight substitutions, but PAOK remained firmly in control, extending their lead to 4-0 in the 81st minute. Pedro Henrique stormed into the area, was brought down and then converted the penalty himself.

PAOK coach reached once again some useful conclusions and was satisfied by the way his team functioned. The “Double-Headed Eagle” are now prepping for the friendly match against RSC Anderlecht (Tuesday 23 July).

* Dimitris Giannoulis was initially in the starting line-up, but was forced to sit out due a stomach bug.
