PAOK FC sign Douglas Augusto
PAOK FC announce the signing of Douglas Augusto from SC Corinthians. The Brazilian holding midfielder penned a four-year contract until 2023 and will wear the No 33 shirt.
Born in Rio de Janeiro on 13 January 1997, Douglas Augusto Soares Gomes considered football as his ticket out of poverty. He joined the youth teams of Fluminense FC at the age of 7.
He went through the ranks joining the U20 team of Flu and leading them to the 2015 title with 15 goals. Meanwhile he was also training with the senior side of Fluminense, eventually making his debut for them.
He became a regular almost immediately, his talent standing out. He was also called to the Brazil U20 national team. In 2016 he won the league with Fluminense.
His impressive displays convinced SC Corinthians to acquire him. He established himself almost immediately in his new team, but the coaching changes saw him land on loan at EC Bahia. He was a regular there as well, before PAOK’s offer came and brought Douglas Augusto to Thessaloniki.
