Champions PAOK and their global effect

After 34 years of fight and anticipation, PAOK reclaimed the summit of Greek football. The title trophy was awarded to the “Double-Headed Eagle” during an impressive ceremony, unprecedented in Greece. The party in the city went on until the wee hours of the morning.
The spectacular images travelled around the world through the web. Big foreign news channels and sites hosted features for champions PAOK.
Kick off with SportBible, one of the world’s top sports sites. Their feature about Vieirinha coming on the pitch despite his torn ligament and getting acclaimed by the Toumba crowd, as well as two videos from Toumba and the celebration around the White Tower, got more than 1,5 million views.
French sports daily L’Equipe acclaimed PAOK and their fans with a spectacular video.
BBC hosted a feature about the spectacular anniversary party on Saturday with flares lighting the Thessaloniki sky. As for the Germany-based Deutsche Welle, it went for a comparison of league title festivities among PAOK, Juventus and Paris St-Germain, the “Double-Headed Eagle” getting the nod ahead of the rest.

Apart from the congratulatory letter by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to PAOK, the international federation also retweeted the video of PAOK’s dressing room party, commenting on the team returning to the top after 34 years and their undefeated trajectory in the Super League.
