Medical report for André Vieirinha
Surgery and rehabilitation plan outlined for PAOK skipper André Vieirinha.
Since sustaining his injury, André Vieirinha has been following special treatment under the guidance of PAOK’s medical staff. His wish to be present for last Sunday’s match and participate in the league title festivities was too strong… Despite his injury, he came off the bench for a symbolic cameo and became the centre of much of the post-match celebrations.
Since minute one, Vieirinha’s injury was treated with caution so that he could participate in the award ceremony and festivities without further damaging his knee.
He didn’t undergo immediate surgery (in the first 24 hours) for the afore-mentioned reasons. Taking under consideration the additional bruising of his knee, it was decided that Vieirinha will be operated on when the swelling subsides –a standard protocol in such cases.
The player wishes that his case be handled jointly by Portugal national team doctor José Carlos Noronha and chief of PAOK medical services Manolis Papakostas.
Both staffs are in contact and the operation will be held on 6 May in Porto, after the two doctors meet.
