U19s cruise to victory No 23

The league title is already in the bag, but PAOK U19s want to extend their amazing winning streak. Lamia added themselves to the list of the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” victims, losing 1-0 in Nea Mesimvria. This narrow scoreline doesn’t reflect at all the complex of the encounter.

06.04.2019

The game was a one-sided affair from minute one. The “Double-Headed Eagle” performed attractive football, dominated proceedings and wasted a host of opportunities.

Michailidis and Tzovaras fired two “warning” shots in the first eight minutes. In the 9th minute, Panidis’s powerful shot from the box struck the woodwork. Three minutes later, he was also brought down into the area, but the visiting goalkeeper pulled off an impressive save to deny Chatzistravos who took the spot kick.

In the 19th minute, Pournaras teed up Tzovaras, but the latter missed his shot with the goal at his mercy. Five minutes later, Panidis made the most of a team effort and Pournaras’s pass to break the deadlock.

Tsaousis missed his one-on-one with Lamia’s goalkeeper before the interval, while Tzovaras limped out of the encounter, after sustaining an injury.

The pace dropped considerably in the second half. Lamia created danger in PAOK’s box but to no avail. The pupils of Pablo García also wasted a few chances to extend their lead through Panidis and Tsaousis.

PAOK U19: Talichmanidis, Τsaousis, Κaloutsikidis, Μaniotis, Μichailidis, Voutsas, Salamouras (60’ Theodoridis), Chatzistravos (46’ Giaxis), Τzovaras (35’ Xifilinos), Pournaras, Panidis
