Record-setter Prijović
He has been at PAOK for less than two years, Aleksandar Prijović has already secured a prominent place in the club’s history books. His effectiveness and his astonishing scoring rate place him among the best forwards ever to put on the black-and-white shirt.
Last season Aleksandar Prijović scored 27 goals (all competitions included). This mark is both a personal and a club record –the best ever of a PAOK player during one season.
The Serbian striker has kept his foot on the throttle in the current season as well, having netted 13 goals in 24 encounters. He made history with the last one he scored, against AEL in the league. Prijović converted his spot kick for his 50th goal in 83 encounters. He needed less time to reach this mark than any of his predecessors at PAOK.
Kostas Frantzeskos owned the previous record. On 26 September 1999, in PAOK’s 4-2 win over Kalamata, he scored his 50th goal (in 99 matches) with a trademark direct free-kick. The veteran Greek player and Prijović are the only ones who made it to 50 goals in a two-digit number of appearances.
Christos Dimoopoulos is third in the list (50 goals in 104 games), with Dimitris Salpingidis, Κostas Orfanos and Giorgos Koudas trailing.
The list of 50-goal PAOK scorers reads as follows:
