U19s victorious in Lamia

The U19 side of the “Double-Headed Eagle” were effective in Lamia, adding yet another win to their tally. They are firmly on their way to claim a second consecutive league title.

04.12.2018

The encounter was far from easy. After the midweek tiring trip to Belarus, where PAOK stamped their qualification to the next round of the UEFA Youth League, the youngsters returned to action to face a tough rival on their turf –and they did brilliantly.

PAOK started with all systems go into the match and pushed their opponents for an early goal. They were rewarded in the 20th minute, Gaitanidis heading Balogiannis’s cross home for the opener.

Lamia reacted and equalized twelve minutes later with a header following a corner kick, taking advantage of PAOK’s sloppy defending. But in the 34th minute, it was the home side’s turn to commit an error and Tsaousis made it 1-2 with the goal at his mercy.

After the interval, PAOK dictated pace, remained in control of proceedings and went on to score a third goal. Balogiannis provided his second assist of the day and Tzovaras’s header made it 3-1.

Pablo García’s troops extended their lead at the standings. Second-placed AEK trail by seven points and third-placed Olympiakos by nine.

PAOK U19: Papadopoulos, Lyratzis, Τsaousis, Μichailidis, Diamantis, Μaniotis (70’ Τsiggaras), Chatzistravos (83’ Salamouras), Balogiannis, Gaitanidis, Pournaras (46’ Tzovaras), Doumtsis.
