Statement by Ivan Savvidis

PAOK FC president Ivan Savvidis sent out the following message through www.paokfc.gr:

Dear fans,

I chose this proud day of the Greek nation, the “NO” day, to address everyone interested in Greek football. I ask you all to follow the example of our heroes and unite against the enemy we have in common: fascism and violence.

I call upon you all to fight fascist behaviour and their symbols appearing in the Greek stadia! I call upon you to stage a resistance front against the sports violence phenomenon that is hurting Greek society!

It’s high time to voice our own “NO” to those who have penetrated into sports venues and are trying to revive circumstances that threaten the human essence and sensitivities of Greek people!

With honour,

Ivan Savvidis
