PAOK FC statement regarding the amendment

PAOK FC’s stance regarding the amendment approved by the Greek Parliament for the grant of 30,000 square metres of land in the surrounding area of Toumba Stadium.

25.10.2018

The approval of the law amendment in order to grant PAOK 30,000 square metres of land in the surrounding area of Toumba is a very important development. We wish to thank the Greek Government and the Ministry of Defence for the initiative, as well as the parliament parties who voted for the amendment. They are all contributing in raising the security standards in the new stadium and thus abolishing sports-related violence.

We consider this grant of land a self-evident and necessary condition in order to service the fans of Thessaloniki. Such amendments should apply in all sports venues in Greece, with the aim of meeting the highest European standards of crowd security.

The area granted is of the utmost importance, as it will allow the creation of the necessary control zones around a new, modern and secure ground, that will not only be PAOK’s new home, but will also serve as a landmark of the city.

In upcoming weeks, after the completion of the necessary paperwork with the Periphery and the Municipal authorities in cooperation with the competent ministries and services, the process of designing New Toumba will kick off.
