Ukrainian referee Aranovskiy appointed for Vidi match
Yevhen Aranovskiy will take charge of PAOK’s encounter against MOL Vidi FC in Toumba Stadium, for matchday 3 of UEFA Europa League.
Yevhen Aranovskiy was born in Kyiv on 13 October 1976. He is a professional referee and among the best in Ukraine.
He earned his FIFA badge in 2011 and started officiating youth national teams’ games. In 2011-12, he made his debut in the UEFA Europa League, at an encounter between NK Olimpija Ljubljana and NK Široki Brijeg for the 1st qualifying round of the competition. The Slovenian side won 3-0.
Four seasons later, he was assigned his first UEFA Champions League match. It was the away 2-0 victory of Aalborg BK over GNK Dinamo Zagreb, in the 3rd qualifying round.
The Ukrainian referee usually handles UEFA Europa League encounters. It’s the first time in his career that he comes across a Greek club. As for MOL Vidi FC, they don’t remember him that fondly, as he refereed their 1-0 loss to FC Basel in 2012-13.
In Toumba, Aranovskiy will be accompanied by Serhiy Bekker and Oleg Pluzhnyk, the assistant referees, with Semen Shlonchak acting as fourth official. Mykola Balakin and Anatoliy Abdula complete the team as additional assistant referees, while Steen Michael Dahrup has been appointed by UEFA as Referee Observer for the match.
