«We didn’t lose our composure»
Everything that Răzvan Lucescu said after PAOK’s victory over OFI Crete in Heraklion for matchday 3 of Super League Souroti.
On the Heraklion game:
«We made a good start. We dominated and could have earned a penalty visible even in Athens, but the referee didn’t want to award it. Yet another game with important but erroneous decisions against us… We didn’t give up though. After falling 1-0 behind, the match changed. We tried to score and applied pressure, but were nervous and lacked balance for about 15 minutes. However we managed to level and dominated completely after scoring the equalizer«.
On the internal changes:
«Biseswar was very good today as an interior midfielder and a winger. It was exactly at that moment that we managed to score. It was imperative not to lose our composure and our clear thinking. When we got back in the game, we were able to score more«.
On the upcoming high-profile clashes:
«Every match is important for us. Today’s and the one against Panionios and every game… We must be perfectly prepared to win three points«.
On the refereeing decisions at PAOK games:
«It’s tough for us. They steal from us, we are getting attacked. What is happening is far from OK«.
On his players’ reaction:
«We committed errors, but also had some good choices. There are more positives than negatives that we take out of the game. We reacted well by the end of the first half. Some matches are like this –a team can’t always score many goals. We need to learn how to react when we make errors. We have won many games and have high self-confidence as a result. We shouldn’t talk about errors. All teams, even the top ones, can make errors«.
On refereeing:
«When such a clear penalty is denied to us, it’s a huge scandal. Everyone saw that the goalkeeper struck our forward. I cannot say whether such decisions derive from pressure or if there is something else happening. We are facing a problem though. We take it one game at a time and do what we must«.
On Paschalakis and his incident with OFI fans:
«His reaction was a mistake. He should focus on pitch action, that’s his job. I really don’t believe his manner was ugly«.
