Malezas 2019
PAOK FC announce they have extended the contract of skipper Stelios Malezas for one season.
After spending one season on loan at Irodotos, Stelios Malezas made his debut with the PAOK shirt on 27 October 2015 in the home encounter against Agrotikos Asteras for the Greek Cup.
Gradually he managed to become a regular for the “Double-Headed Eagle” and an international for Greece. He was included in the Greek list for the final stages of 2010 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2012. In the summer of 2012, after enjoying his best season (both in terms of matches played and performances), he opted for something different.
The German Bundesliga and Fortuna Düsseldorf were expecting him. He remained there for two seasons, experienced the relegation in the Zweite-Liga, but came back fuller after living football at its purest form. In 2014 he returned to Greece signing for Panetolikos. But staying away from Toumba for three seasons was too much. In 2015 he came back “home”.
He has featured in 234 matches with the “Double-Headed Eagle” crest on his chest and has scored 5 times. He has a tally of 329 encounters in his professional career, with 7 goals to his name.
Last season he earned the maiden trophy of his career, the Greek Cup. A few weeks ago, he was the one to lift the cup trophy along with Adelino Vieirinha in the Olympic Stadium of Athens, after a second consecutive successful Greek Cup final at the expense of AEK Athens. The captain played in 16 encounters this season and got to score against Platanias.
