There are many candidates for the award: Dimitris Pelkas , with three goals vying for top prize, outsiders and rarely scorers Gojko Cimirot and José Alberto Cañas, Maurício, Djalma Campos, rearguard representatives Fernando Varela and Léo Matos, as well as Adelino Vieirinha , who kept the best for last.
Zvonimir Vukić landed the inaugural 2013-14 award for his effort against Platanias, a moment of football magic both in creation and execution.
Facundo Pereyra won the 2014-15 award for his stunner against Olympiakos in Karaiskakis Stadium, a goal that sealed an impressive away win for the “Double-Headed Eagle”.
The following player to win this trophy was Gojko Cimirot. In his first season with the black-and-white shirt on (2015-16), the Bosnian midfielder scored one and only goal, but it was a belter. His unstoppable volley landed at the back of Panathinaikos’s net in Leoforos and was voted as the best of the season.
Dimitris Pelkas , a vital cog of PAOK on their way to reclaiming silverware, won last season’s award. His unstoppable direct free-kick against Panathinaikos in Toumba Stadium, won the fans’ vote and landed him the award.
