PAOK U15s: The pulse before the final
A few hours before the U15s leave for Lamia, where they will face Panathinaikos in the Super League Souroti final, coach Vasilis Mittas and skipper Athanasios Stojnovic spoke to the official site of the league. You can read what they said on paokfc.gr.
PAOK U15 coach Vasilis Mittas spoke about the importance of such a match and pinpointed the significance of finals in the educational procedure of footballers:
«Participation in a final always brings along a huge challenge to win a trophy, regardless of the age. Speaking of youth football though, this challenge must always be regarded as a procedure of learning and building characters on their way to top level football. Everyone evolved in youth football should be clear, both in theory and in action, that only a few know how many youth football titles Dimitris Pelkas won. Everybody knows however that one of the senior side’s captains learned his trade in our football academy and his contribution to keeping PAOK at the top of the standings is huge. Our aim through such games is to help develop strong characters who will establish themselves with a leading part in the senior team in the future«.
U15 skipper Athanasios Stojnovic underlined the excellent atmosphere within the team, predicted a hard-fought match and couldn’t hide his wish to win the trophy and celebrate it with his team-mates:
«We worked very hard with our coaches this season. We are like a family and feel ready to face every challenge on our way. We participated in very competitive tournaments abroad lately. However Panathinaikos prevailed in the most demanding group of the league. We expect a tough match and hopefully we will win«.
