PAOK sign Marko Mihojević

PAOK FC announce the signing of Marko Mihojević from FK Sarajevo. The 21-year old centre-back penned a deal linking him with the “Double-Headed Eagle” until December 2020.

31.01.2018

Born on 21 April 1996 in Trebnije (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Marko Mihojević started playing football at the youth ranks of FK Leotar. In 2012, at the age of 16, he was promoted to his senior side and made his debut on 6 October, coming off the bench in an encounter against NK GOŠK Gabela.

In his first season, he played in ten games. In the following one, while he was still a minor, he became a regular and his performances caught the eye of FK Sarajevo, who moved to sign him in the summer of 2014.

He met Gojko Cimirot in the Bosnian capital’s club and they carved similar itineraries. At FK Sarajevo, despite his young age, Mihojević established himself as a vital cog of the team, made 30 appearances last season and also wore the captain’s armband.

His ability to feature as centre-back and as holding midfielder has made him a regular in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national youth sides since 2013. Mihojević is considered one of the biggest talents of the country and nowadays is called to the senior Bosnian national team. He made his international debut two days ago, on 29 January, in the friendly encounter against the United States.

In the current season, he has conjured 3 goals in 14 appearances for FK Sarajevo. He also made his European Cups’ debut in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League last summer, scoring in FK Sarajevo’s 2-1 loss to FC Zaria Bălți in Moldova.

Mihojević is mature beyond his years, a passionate and physical defender and excels in the air. He accepted the challenge presented by PAOK and comes to Thessaloniki for the next big step in his career.
