The U20 side of the “Double-Headed Eagle” recorded an important away victory, prevailing 2-0 over Panetolikos for matchday 19 of the Super League Souroti.

28.01.2018

The narrow pitch didn’t help PAOK players, who struggled to impose their game. However, they did manage to score the opener with the first chance they got, in the 5th minute. Gargalatzidis broke into the box from the right and, in his effort to clear the ball, a Panetolikos defender sent it past his own goalkeeper into the net.

Pablo García’s troops took command right from the start and then tried to score more goals in order to “finish off” the encounter.

They got their reward in the 32nd minute from a set piece. Kozak took the free kick, Balogiannis met it with a header, setting up Tzovaras who tapped the ball in.

After the interval, the complexion of the encounter didn’t change, PAOK controlling proceedings and managing their lead. The home side didn’t give up and tried for ways to get back into the game. The “Double-Headed Eagle’s” defenders didn’t allow that and secured their three points.

Now PAOK U20s have 42 points in 18 games. They overtook Olympiacos in the standings and climbed to second place, in purchase of Panathinaikos who lead by four points.

PAOK U20: Siampanis, Lyratzis, Τsaousis, Dimitriou, Diamantis, Τsiggaras, Balogiannis (48’ Maniotis), Chatzistravos, Κozak (80’ Gaitanidis), Gargalatzidis (85’ Doumtsis), Τzovaras.
