«Good result, but I am not satisfied»
He couldn’t lead PAOK to a victory in his official debut at their helm. Here is what Aleksandar Stanojević said after the final whistle of the encounter against FC Olimpik Donetsk in Ukraine.
On the importance of the away goal and his team’s performance:
«It’s a good result, but I am not satisfied with our display. Next week we will see if we have improved compared to today«.
On PAOK’s defensive problems:
«Our problem doesn’t just lie in defence. I know what we need, I have spoken with the technical director about what we must do. However, our defensive display doesn’t depend only on the back four, but on the collective performance of our side when not in possession«.
On the attacking character that the team lack:
«That is true. The team aren’t ready yet to play the game I want them to. Speaking of a qualifier, I would like more security in midfield. Hopefully we will be able to play more attacking football shortly. If the match were to start once again, I would make one change in my line-up«.
On what he expects from the second leg:
«I expect us to play better, to be more attacking, to start strongly and impose our game. Our rivals are in better physical condition, therefore we need to be more attack-minded«.
On transfers:
«Regarding transfers, when a team purchase new players, they are 30% different to the side they would have, had they not signed anyone. It’s not just about signings though. We didn’t play that well today. It’s early to say what is at fault. We need to look at the whole picture and then reach our conclusions«.
On substituting Shakhov:
«We needed to introduce a more attack-minded player, that’s why we substituted Shakhov with Biseswar«.
