Scoreless draw for the U20s in Agrinio
In a tightly-contested match with many chances, good pace and the referee standing out for all the wrong reasons, the U20s of the “Two-Headed Eagle” recorded a 0-0 draw at Panetolikos for matchday 18 of the Super League.
PAOK started strongly and had already wasted three good opportunities in the first 15 minutes, through Stathopoulos and Papadopoulos who went close but misplaced their efforts. Panetolikos took more control of the ball afterwards, but PAOK’s backline were impenetrable except for one error that the home side almost took advantage of.
Both sides hit the ground running after the interval, but play in the second half was pretty much disrupted by the refereeing trio. The assistants erroneously rose their flags time and time again for non-existent offside calls, while the referee would interrupt play all the time to hand out cautions. As a result, players struggled to no avail to regain their pace and the match ended scoreless.
