Warda: «I wanted PAOK»

He waited a long time for this moment. And when he finally signed for PAOK, he was 4.816 kms away, as a member of the Egypt national side participating in the African Cup of Nations. 2017 started in impressive fashion for Amr Warda.

25.01.2017

The Egyptian attacking midfielder spoke to paokfc.gr about signing for the “Two-Headed Eagle”. “I am very happy to belong to PAOK, because I wanted it so much”, he said from Port-Gentil, where he is currently with his national team, adding: “I had more offers from Spain and other clubs, but I wanted to join PAOK and I am very happy I achieved it. PAOK are a big club, compete in the Europa League and have impressive fans”.

Amr Warda continues on the tradition of Egyptian players signing for the “Two-Headed Eagle”, becoming the 8th “Pharaoh” to sport the black-and-white shirt. “To my knowledge, Tolba was the best, but I don’t remember him in action as I was very little when he was played. I am happy to join the list of Egyptians to play for PAOK and I will try to help my new team as much as I can”.

Meanwhile Warda remains focused on his international duty with Egypt, currently in Gabon for the 2017 African Cup of Nations: “It’s a great experience for me and a huge honour to be representing my country in this tournament”, he said.
