Warda signs for PAOK
PAOK FC announce the signing of Amr Warda from Panetolikos FC. The international Egyptian player signed a deal linking him with the “Two-Headed Eagle” until June 2020 and will join them after the completion of his engagement with his national team at the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
Born in Alexandria, Egypt, on 17 September 1993, Warda learned his trade at the youth ranks of Sporting Alexandria. In 2011 he moved to Al-Ahly and featured for their junior sides. In 2013-14, he made his official debut for the senior team and in the following season he was shipped on loan to Al-Ittihad, thus returning to his home city. He featured in 16 games for them and also scored his maiden top-flight league goal.
In the summer of 2015, Warda decided to try his luck in Europe. His destination was the Greek Super League and Panetolikos, whose scouts identified his talent and potential. In the 18 months spent in Agrinio, he made heads turn with his overall performances. Now he will continue his career at PAOK.
Last season, the international Egyptian player featured in 30 encounters and scored 5 times. In the current season, he has already reached the same tally of goals in half as many games (15). He also has provided 4 assists.
His impressive performances also paved his way towards the national team of Egypt. Héctor Raúl Cúper gave him his international first cap in October 2015 and he is part of the “Pharaohs’” 23-man team participating currently in the finals of the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
