Matos prevailed in December

Léo Matos “killed” the competition and took the “11888 MVP of December” accolade by storm.

25.12.2016

PAOK returned to their winning ways in December, accompanying their recovery with qualifications to the knock out stages of the UEFA Europa League and Greek Cup. They also recorded two important victories in the Super League, in their quest to regain lost ground.

Léo Matos is an important factor of this recovery. The Brazilian full-back was outstanding in December, he excelled both in attack and defence, he scored two goals, provided one assist and led his teammates on the pitch with his passion and energy. In the encounter against Platanias, he was given a standing ovation by the fans, who also voted him as 11888 MVP of December, in the poll held by paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App. He won the poll by storm, collecting 84,38% of the vote.

José Ángel Crespo was in second place. The Spanish centre back was very consistent for yet another month, standing out for his calmness. Either alongside Stelios Malezas or Fernando Varela in the centre of defence, or as left full-back.

Djalma Campos joined Matos and Crespo on the podium. He improved considerably in December, a force to reckon with in attack, and he also scored his maiden goals in the Super League, in PAOK’s last encounter for 2016, against AOK Kerkyra.
