Time for victory in Toumba

Toumba Stadium, PAOK’s home ground and their source of power, has been anything but that in the last two seasons in European competition. It’s high time that this trend should change.

07.12.2016

In their previous eight home encounters of the UEFA Europa League group stage, PAOK have recorded just one victory (at the expense of FC Dinamo Minsk on 18 September 2014), suffered 3 losses and played 4 draws. The “Two-Headed Eagle” want to put an end to that negative streak and defeat FC Slovan Liberec. A win can open the gates of qualification to them, but under specific conditions.

PAOK don’t control their destiny, as qualification will depend on the outcome of the Azerbaijan match between Qarabağ FK and ACF Fiorentina. However Vladan Ivić and his troops are determined to return to their winning ways and turn the situation around after three consecutive defeats in the Super League.

The Serbian head coach has all his players at his disposal, since there are no injury problems. In their last training session, on Wednesday, they focused on tactics with Ivić rehearsing his plans for the encounter against FC Slovan Liberec. The session also included practice on finishing and set pieces.
